MARZAN LAUNCHES HEADING HOME HENNEPIN WEBSITE FOR HENNEPIN COUNTY
Want to help end homelessness? Log onto new website.

(Minneapolis) - September 24, 2007 -- Ending homelessness is a reachable goal, and a new website aims to help citizens get involved.

By logging onto www.HeadingHomeHennepin.org, you can learn steps to prevent homelessness, watch a short movie, "Land of 10,000 Homeless," link to more than 100 resources, and learn how to reach out to the homeless in meaningful ways.

The site is one more tool in the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County's efforts to end homelessness by 2016, said Cathy ten Broeke, the city-county coordinator to end homelessness.

"We have volunteer activities, educational resources, policy issues and more on this website," ten Broeke said. The site was created in partnership with the University of Minnesota's Office of Public Engagement and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, with special assistance from Lynn Nelson of The Links Group and Alberto Marzan of Marzan Interactive.

The effort to end homelessness was launched by the City-County Commission to End Homelessness, which crafted "Heading Home Hennepin," a 10-year plan to close the door on homelessness. It was developed in 2006 by nearly 70 business, civic and faith leaders from the community, with significant input from homeless and formerly homeless individuals.
